Wire Clown. Tape Heel.

My first 2 pieces in college were to recreate objects with masking tape and wire. I chose to enlarge a clown shoe 3 times larger with black wire. I was an angsty art kid and thought that would be profound. Clowns are funny looking but prickly when getting down to the core (oh so original). The high heel shoe I thought would be a nice contrast inside the wire clown shoe. The high heel was 1 to 1 scale and weight to the real life counterpart.

Tony

The first series where I sat a guy down to have a full conversation with and capture the micro-expressions and body language when talking about different topics. I became interested in how men express themselves in all emotions. As a male, growing up I was taught to show little expression besides muted happiness and anger. There is a side to most of the guys I sat down with that had a similar upbringing, whether from their parents/ guardians or peers.
